Ayutthaya ancient city, has been included in UNESCO's World Heritage list since 13 December, 1991. Near Ayutthaya ancient city is the Bang Pa-In Summer Place which today is used occasionally by Their Majesties King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX) and Queen Sirikit as a residence and for holding receptions and banquets.
The current royal summer palace dates from the reign of King Chulalongkorn 1868-1910. Not Far from Ayutthaya is the town of Lop Buri which you can include in the tour to see the Temple of The San Phra Kan (Kala Shrine) which has been made famous for its monkeys.
